Miami Events in May

May is really when Miami events start to pop up all over town. The Cinco De Mayo block party along the Brickell Avenue waterfront is a lively party with plenty of margaritas and Mexican food to keep you happy. DJ Laz will be providing the music, all you have to do is show up for some fun. Advance general admission tickets are just $15.

Looking for more festive ways to celebrate the rich Miami culture? Haitian Compas Festival is May 18 featuring the best musicians from Haiti and tickets start at $45. May 23 - 27 is Sizzle Miami. As one of the hottest LGBT+ parties, this five-day event features parties at the city’s best clubs, beaches, and even aboard a yacht.

The H.O.T. Challenge Golf Tournament on May 10, Rolling Loud Festival May 10 - 12, New Times Brew at the Zoo on May 11, and the Redland International Orchid Show May 17 - 19 are also popular events to check out throughout the Miami in May.

 

Memorial Day Weekend in Miami

The Air & Sea Show and the Musical Explosion festival takes place May 25 and 26 on Miami Beach. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public, and it features fireworks, sand sculpting, motocross, and more. You can’t miss the iconic Blue Angels in action.

Beats of the Music Fest is also Memorial Day weekend along Miami’s Bayfront Park. Check out the best in hip-hop, pop, and reggae with tickets starting at $30. 

Interested in tasting your way through the weekend? The Coconut Grove Food & Wine Festival is on May 25 and has been running for 25 years. This event features the best food and drinks from Coconut Grove restaurants. Buy your tickets starting at $25 or $75 for unlimited drinks and VIP access.

Other fun events include Junkanoo Parade on Ocean Drive, Best of the Best Memorial Day Concert at Bayfront Park, PAMM Memorial Day BBQ, Flamingo Gardens Memorial Day Kidzfest, and Urban Beach Week. 

On Memorial Day itself, head to All Wars Memorial Park, Charles F. Dodge City Center, Bergeron Rodeo Grounds, or the Sunridge Civic Center for Memorial Day ceremonies.

 

Miami Events and Festivals in June

The World Dance Summer Intensive hosted by Dance Now Miami, which takes place June 10 - 14, offers workshops and classes at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex. Learn more about ballet, modern dance, jazz, contemporary, West African, and Afro Haitian styles of dance. You can experience more of Miami’s art and culture at The American Black Film Festival June 12 - 16. Festival passes start at $120 a person and allow access to film showings at various theaters around South Beach. 

Traveling with the whole family? The Carnaval Miami Fishing Tournament on June 15 in Key Biscayne offers fun for all ages. Catch some of the best sport fishing in South Florida at this event. From June 18 - 23, Broadway’s Come From Away Musical at the Adrienne Arsht Center is an award-winning production based on the true story of 7,000 stranded passengers on 9/11 in a town called Newfoundland. The story is a remarkable reminder of human kindness and acceptance.

June in Miami is also a great time for foodies of all kinds. The Redland Summer Fruit Festival is June 22 - 23 in Homestead at the Fruit & Spice Park. You can’t miss this opportunity to get all the freshest fruit in the area, and admission is just $8. The Taste of the Caribbean is June 21 - 25 at the Hyatt Regency Miami. Try some of the best Caribbean-inspired cuisines from local chefs. Tickets start at $55.

 

Month Long Events to Kick Off Summer

Out in the Tropics is a month-long event that kicks off May 24 and ends June 24. This event features multi-disciplinary artistic performances at venues like Centro Cultural Español, The Gleason Room at The Fillmore, and The Miami Beach Botanical Garden. Tickets start at $25.

The City Theatre’s Summer Shorts event is returning for its 23rd season from May 30 to June 30 at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. This fest is America’s Short Play Festival, showcasing only 10-minute plays.

While not the entire month, the Coral Gables restaurant week is from June 4 - 24 offering deals and discounts at more than 40 participating restaurants throughout the area. Treat yourself to fine cuisine and carefully crafted cocktails at spots along Miracle Mile and in Downtown Coral Gables.
